INHFA CALLS FOR SUPPORT FROM ALL FARM ORGANISATIONS FOR WORKABLE FODDER SCHEME.

In a scathing attack on the recently announced Fodder Transport Support Measure announced by the Minister for Agriculture Mr Creed, the National President of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association (INHFA),Colm O Donnell has labelled the scheme as totally unworkable and should be scrapped immediately.

The INHFA held a protest at DAFM offices in Drumshanbo,Co. Leitrim on the 12th of February and handed in a letter to the Minister rejecting the scheme and called for the stakeholders action group to be reinstated. The stakeholders group should then be tasked with drawing up a simple workable solution to give some assistance to farmers affected by the shortage of fodder on their farms.

The farm leader stated “we weren’t the only farm organisation present at that stakeholders action group where a set of recommendations were agreed.”
“I am calling on all farm organisations to back the INHFA call to totally reject the current scheme reconvene the stakeholders action group, and work together to ensure that a simple workable solution can be but in place quickly to help those farmers that need it most”.
